NORTON, MA. December 2, 2010. CPS is the world leader in developing and manufacturing advanced materials solutions and products, particularly combinations of metals and ceramics, to improve performance and reliability of applications in a variety of end markets. They were recently awarded the Patriotic Employer Award. After reviewing the nomination submitted by employee and "Citizen Soldier", First Sergeant Steve Bodwell, US Army Reserve, MAESGR Field Chair Tom Boyle dispatched Volunteer Roger Fortin and Staff Member David St. Germain to the company headquarters in Norton MA to present the Above and Beyond Award.

More than fifty employees gathered as Mr. St. Germain presented the distinguished honor to the President of CPS, Mr. Grant Bennett. After Mr. Bennett received the award, he stated: "I am proud to accept this award on behalf of all of the employees of CPS who during the course of the deployment of First Sergeant Steve Bodwell, consistently went above & beyond in their support of him through e-mail contact, packages, cards and gifts. Even though Steve has returned from deployment, the folks here at CPS are continuing to support the members of Steve's unit who are still on a deployment." Mr. Bennett later stated that everyone at CPS was extremely proud of Steve and his patriotic military service.
CPS AlSiC products are used as microprocessor lids, flip chip lids, heat sinks, microwave housings, optoelectronic housings, power substrates, IGBT baseplates, and liquid cold plates. End applications include motion control (controller) power modules, high voltage PFC (power factor correction) front ends, pin fin coolers for IGBT modules in hybrid electric vehicles, hi-rel DC/DC converters, UPS (uninterruptible power supplies), and many others.
The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Volunteer Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
